M6 is delving into the top weddings in the world, focussing on the traditional Indian wedding of Aradhna and Kevish in Dubaï, the city of money. The couple has hired fashion designer Sakina Shbib for the making of the wedding dress. Will she be up to the challenge?
THE FOUNDER
Gemma L’Appanna is a force of nature and has enjoyed a stellar career with some of the world’s leading brands.
Her two decades in marketing and PR has seen her wow clients across three continents – the USA, Europe and the Middle East.
She worked with Conde Nast in New York and Stella McCartney in London before forging a long term, impactful career with companies including F&E (now known as Tarsus), where she helped turn Dubai Airshow into one of the world’s largest and most successful events of its kind, with record breaking coverage and a whole new social media image.
Her skills in the aviation sector were bolstered further when she undertook a role to promote MEBAA – the Middle East & North Africa Business Aviation Association – as PR & Events Manager. This role saw her build the association’s nascent events into world-class occasions, attracting global interest in this highly valued niche sector.
Utilising her affable personality and exemplary PR and marketing skills to the full, Gemma moved onto manage regional PR and communications for Accor Hotels Luxury Brands in the Middle East & Egypt. This role saw her manage and support all the communication needs of 40 properties in the region.
Headhunted by a Paris-based media agency, Gemma’s consultancy role with Confluence Paris saw her deliver outstanding support to high-end luxury brands at key events such as Paris Couture Week, Arab Fashion Week and the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Her most recent role saw her boldly managing the reputation of Emaar Hospitality, one of the region’s most renowned and respected high-end hotel management companies, as senior marketing and communication manager.
In this role, she took care of carefully protecting the group’s prestigious brands – including Address Hotels & Resorts, Rove Hotels, Armani Hotels, Vida Hotels & Resorts, Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, Arabian Ranches Golf Club and Dubai Marina Yacht Club.
